The Trimurti Shrine - In the Quest for True Love at the Lovers' Shrine

The Trimurti Shrine is Ratchaprasong at the busy intersection in downtown Bangkok at the corner of Central World Plaza (former World Trade Center) shrine across the street from the famous Erawan.

Although less hectic than the Erawan Shrine, the Trimurti Shrine has an aura of its own. Legend has it that filled those who pray here for true love, their dreams. The faithful are mostly local, are usually in the evening to make their offerings of garlands and JossSticks.

Trimurti refers to the trinity of Hindu gods from Brahma, the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the Destroyer, the three main gods in Hinduism.

The deity is a golden statue of the human body with two heads and four arms. The heads are one on the other, the lower head has four faces.

Built in 1989, the Trimurti Shrine is on a raised platform, sheltered by a dome on four pillars with elaborately carved gableson the four sides. There is an open area around the shrine with a ring of seats for the faithful to sit and reflect.

Be prepared in the classical Indian sculpture with a Thai, the statue is a replica of the original from the old Ayutthaya. Like other shrines in Bangkok, the Trimurti Shrine was built to answer the prayers of the people that success, prosperity and happiness.

The shrine somehow earned the reputation of, the granting of luck in the romance, because it is very popular withyoung Thais who associate the shrine with the god of love.

Legends are based on themselves and how the glory of the pilgrimage site grew in the ranks of believers. That is the reputation of the shrine that it is sometimes referred to as the Shrine of the lovers.

There is a sense of peace and tranquility around the Trimurti Shrine and the place just a natural draw to people. There is a small but steady stream of believers, young couples, pairs of women, single women and men, some of which afterWork. It is not only young though; elderly people were seen there too limited.

As at the Erawan Shrine, the origin of God in the Trimurti Shrine matters not to the believers who are steadfast in their belief that they are the sanctuary to meet their search after happiness.

On Valentine's Day each year, the Lovers' Shrine was decorated with red roses. Flickering red candles cast shadows in the night, as believers flock to the shrine.

Young women with their eyes closed, kneelbefore the Trinity of Gods, clasp joss sticks and pray with an intensity that is etched in their faces. Will their prayers be answered?

The Trimurti Shrine has moved

The Trimurti Shrine has been out of the corner of Central World Plaza Ratchaprasong at the intersection (near the Erawan Shrine) to the other end, which moved closer to the intersection of Pratunam. TheShrine now stands next to the Ganesha Shrine.

This step was due to the construction work which continues to have in the Ratchaprasong end of the Central World Plaza.
